difference between last and continue

difference between last and continue

  • The specific difference is on the focus point of the measurement of time.
The focus point of last is the ending point. I don't think it necessarily means that you want it to be over. Sometimes I wonder how long my life will last and I love my life. My focus is still on the end of the line when I say that sentence.
The focus point of continue is the entire time of the action. To continue is to maintain the same action. To last is to survive. How long will this message continue? It will continue for 4 more lines. How long will this message last? FOREVER!!! It will be spammed across the internets for eternity and be poorly translated into thousands of languages until humanity believes it's very survival after death depends on it!!! So sayeth the muther ##$"# LORD. Amen.

  • Hello! My JTE just asked me what the difference between 'continue' and 'last' is... I tried to think of an answer. The sentence 'the concert will begin soon and it'll continue until about five' sounds (to me) less natural than if you use 'last'. Also, you can't really replace 'last' with 'continue' in the sentence 'how long does the festival last?' It's lunch now and i don't have much time to think about it. It seems that 'last' is used more in this context? Arg, i don't know, sorry if that was unclear.. any takers?? I have some ideas but not formulating them very well, or articulately. gomen.

  • it sounds like you are asking for an amount of time with the use of "last", and for a time with continue.
