difference between hotel, motel, and inn

  • Basicaly a hotel sounds more formidable, suppose to be more upclass and so more expensive. Some are members of a chain group for awareness and uniformity in services. Motels & Inns generally are the same - something simpler, clean and cheap. I am not aware there is a difference only in the usage and trying to create an image for itself. Inn sounds slightly more decent whilst motel sometimes reflects shadiness in its deal.

  • A hotel is a classier(of high quality; expensive and/or fashionable) place. A motel is a family friendly place to relax and not be uptight(anxious and/or angry about something). And an Inn is nice, relaxing place where you can kick your shoes off and most times breakfast is served and they treat you like family and let you feel like your at home.

  • A motel is usually a two story structure, where the doors are faced outside to a patio or outside hallway.A hotel is bigger usually , has many rooms, and the doors are inside. An inn is usually only 1 story, old, and have a few rooms. Its doors are facing inwards.

  • Motels were once called Motor Lodges---because you could park right outside your door. They were for quicker in and out stays for travelers on the road in their cars and were generally built right along the highway. Hotels are typically for longer stays and in the city where you might not need a car, often near the airport. Either can be ANY price---not all Hotels are swanly and not all Motels are dives. An Inn is more homey and is often referred to a Bed and Breakfast.

  • Here are some more ideas: Hotels may include various services such as bell boys, room service, concierge service. Motels mainly just have a lobby where you check in, and the rooms. Inns are about the same as a nice motel. Some motels I see along the roads are single story and you park outside your door. But there are motels around here that are several stories. Bed and Breakfasts are usually family run and not very big- from 3 rooms to quite a few more. I've been to a B&B that had a dozen rooms and was more like an inn. In a B&B there are usually common rooms that are decorated in a homey fashion. So, there are my thoughts.

  1. Hotels generally have more than the basics such as a swimming pool, lounge, bar, gym, or spa. Motel is short for motor hotel designed primarily for motorists. An inn on the other hand is an establishment providing accommodations, food, and drink, especially for travelers.
