difference between view, sight, and vision

view - (үзэмж, харагдац, харагдах байдал)If you are looking at a wide scene and you see many creatures appearing and disappearing across the whole range of your vision I would use "view".
1 [uncountablesingular] used when you are talking about whether you can see something or whether something can be seen in a particular situation
---- The lake soon came into view.
---- The sun disappeared from view.
2 [countable] what you can see from a particular place or position, especially beautiful countryside
---- There were magnificent views of the surrounding countryside.
---- The view from the top of the tower was spectacular.
sight - (хараа, нүдний хараа)If you are staring at a particular point or at a more confined space and see them appearing and disappearing I would use "sight".
1 [uncountable] the ability to see
---- to lose your sight (= to become blind)
[uncountable] the area or distance within which someone can see or something can be seen
---- There was no one in sight.
---- They stole everything in sight.
vision - (төсөөлөл, нүдэндээ төсөөлөх, төсөөлөн харагдалт) чи үүнийг төсөөлөл буюу хаалтан дотор торхойлсон утгаар ашиглана гэдгийг сана. Vision is what you picture in your mind, before seeing it

       ---- to have good/perfect/poor/blurred/normal vision
---- Cats have good night vision.
2 [countable] an idea or a picture in your imagination
---- He had a vision of a world in which there would be no wars.
---- had visions of us getting hopelessly lost.

difference between sight and view

  • sight
is what your eyes do, the activity associated with the eyes...
it's the eyes' purpose to "see" for you...
what your brain perceives through your eyes

    Blind people have no sight

    view:
is a more general term meaning the total of all that your eyes can take in or see...
the total vista of what your eyes are looking upon.

The view from the mountain top is breath taking.

  • sight = the faculty of seeing

view = something seen from a particular position.

  • To me, "sight" is something that is more focused and "view" is broader. If you are looking at a wide scene and you see many creatures appearing and disappearing across the whole range of your vision I would use "view". If you are staring at a particular point or at a more confined space and see them appearing and disappearing I would use "sight".

  • There are many differences between the words:

"He lost his sight" means his eyes no longer function. "He lost his view" means that something or someone is blocking him from seeing something.

"You are a beautiful sight" means that it is good to see you and you look good to me. "You are a beautiful view" does not sound natural.

"We are looking at properties with a view towards purchasing one in this area."
"We are looking at properties with a sight towards purchasing one in this area."

"This house has a lovely view of the mountains."
"This house has a lovely sight of the mountains."

"He went to Paris to see the sights."
"He went to Paris to see the views."

difference between sight and vision

  • Sight is what you see with your eyes. (O_O)
Vision is what you picture in your mind, before seeing it. <} -})

  • Sight is the process of the eyes to focus an image on the retina, vision is the ability of the brain to give this image meaning.

  • sight is that you perceive on opening the eye. Vision is what you can see with eyes closed. Best of luck.

  • sight: seen without definition...

vision: to see something happening before it happens...
