The differences between accept and receive

They both have the sense of 'taking to yourself', putting it very simply. 'Accept' also has the sense of agreeing to something. If you are sent an estimate from a builder to do a job and you agree to the price, you would say: I accept your estimate. You can also accept someone's apology if they say they are sorry. You can accept a situation, which means you take it as it is without complaining. 'Receive' has very much the idea of 'get'. You receive letters through the post/You receive payment for a piece of work. It is also used in a formal sense and usually in the passive to mean 'welcome'. He was received by the President at a formal dinner party.

Difference between accept and agree

The verbs accept and agree have different meanings. To express your willingness to do something, use agree with an infinitive. Accept is not possible in this case.
  • She agreed to come. (= She expressed her willingness to come.) (NOT She accepted to come.)
  • They agreed to part ways amicably. (NOT They accepted to part ways amicably.)
  • My sister has agreed to look after my babies when I am away.
To accept is to take something which is offered because you believe that it is true, fair or right. In this case, accept is followed by a noun or a noun clause which acts as its object.
  • She accepted the offer. (NOT She agreed the offer.)
  • She said that she would accept the award with pleasure.

Agree or approve?

When you approve something you give a green signal (go ahead sign) to something that requires your consent.
E.g: The Principal approved the request of children to go for a tour.( especially requests in writings)

When you agree with someone about something, you both have the same opinion about it.
E.g: I agree agree your point of view on modern education

You may agree to many things what others say; but you'll approve a thing  what you think is right and within you authority (act) to do.

accept  approve  agree These words all mean to say that you will do what someone wants or that you will allow something to happen.agree to say that you will do what someone wants or that you will allow something to happen:He agreed to let me go early.accept to be satisfied with something that has been done, decided, or suggested: They accepted the court's decision.approve to officially agree to a plan, suggestion, or request: The committee unanimously approved the plan.
