difference between pride and proud

pride - (                                   "Pride" is a noun.
"Pride" is what someone has.)
proud - (                                "Proud" is an adjective.
"Proud" is what someone is.)

Do you think there is a difference between PRIDE and PROUD? ........is so, please explain.......?

  • You may be said to have pride or you may said to be proud, noun versus adjective. To say someone has proud or that someone is pride would be an incorrect usage in either case.

Yes, the two are related and in much the same way as tall and height. You are tall if you have height. You are not called height if you have tall.

  • The only difference between "proud" and "pride" is that the first is an adjective, and the second is a noun.
    e.g.:

I am very proud of my son.
My son gives me great pride.

  • Good question.
Pride may be internalized and proud maybe externalized. But, both seem interchangeable. They are the same if you ask me.

    Great question!

  • They are pretty much the same word.

You feel pride when your son wins a trophy for playing a sport.
You feel proud when your son wins a trophy for playing a box.

  • uh, they are the same thing. PRIDE is something u have and when u have it u are PROUD. when u are proud of somthign that u did...u take pride in it.
its just two different forms of the same word...

What is the basic difference between Pride and Proud??

"Pride" is a noun.

"Proud" is an adjective.
"Pride" is what someone has.
"Proud" is what someone is.
