What is the difference between using words "terrible", "horrible" and "awful"?
They often can be used interchangeably. For instance:
It was a terrible/horrible/awful movie. You see here any one of the three could be used.
There is a slight difference, however.
If I wanted to emphasize (онцлох) fear being involved, I would tend (хандлагатай байх) to use terrible.
If I wanted to emphasize disgust (жигшилт), I would use horrible.
For lesser degrees of negativity, where something or someone is simply bad in some way, I would use awful.

- Both sound the same, but their origins may help you understand:
Also, terrible is often used for something very bad, such as a "terrible idea". While you could say "horrible idea", "horrible" in that case makes the idea not just bad but also dangerous. I guess, I consider "terrible" to be less extreme than "horrible", but you will often find it often doesn't matter.
